Works
An unorthodox juxtaposition of the seriousness of European traditions and their modern branches, popular rhythms derived from dance and jazz and an East Asian awareness for timbre and melody make up the main influences of my compositions. Here a selection:
Salisbury Cathedral
Paper Craft and Music
Since my early childhood I have had a soft spot for hand-made objects made of paper. I also dabble in creating them myself from time to time and have developed a preference for English cathedrals. The music for the video is a compilation of small pieces that were originally commissioned by a museum in Saudi Arabia, in which I first dealt with oud, qanun and maqams.
Broadcast of the Premier Performance of "Gold & Wire"
Quartett for Trumpet, Saxophone, Contrabass Trombone and Piano
A very special Frankonian piece commissioned by the Bavarian broadcast service for its series "Young Philharmonics".
Borne of the Flowing Water
Hymn for a Fine Arts Installation
On behalf of the artist Marie-Eve Levasseur, I'm creating a polyphonic vocal piece for her installation of her virtual work, which explores the female role in brewing processes.
